The Plan for Rosenbaum Road

Our property predates the City of San Juan Capistrano (1961) and Orange County (1889). In the 1950s, Orange County requested the Rosenbaum Road easement, anticipating housing development that never materialized. Today, the easement is an unused dirt path, mainly used for walking, which we enjoy. However, it has also attracted illegal activity, including a 2016 murder, illegal dumping, fires, drug use, homelessness, and more. The city helps but has limited authority, so we've asked them to vacate the easement, allowing us to care for the land.

Our plan is to maintain the walking path, landscape the area, and create a natural farm that integrates with the creek, promoting native wildlife. Perimeter fencing would be used to limit access to certain hours, allowing the creek to be reopened.

What we'll do: Beautify the neighborhood, increase property values, and reduce crime.

What we won’t do: We’re not developing the land or adding vehicle traffic. The natural farm will comply with zoning and encourage walking and cycling.
